At an elevation of 3050 mtrs, in the banks of Spiti River, Tabo is another important place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The small town of Tabo is sub-divisional headquarters in the Lahaul and Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh. The town has been grown an atmosphere of thousand years old Buddhist monastery and is said that it was found in 96 AD by the great scholar. The Richen Zangpo is an institution for advanced learning. The temple is within the monastery complex in Tabo having a plethora of wall paintings and mud statues. Photography, however, is not permitted inside the monastery.
