Bandipur National Park is the home of gaur, sambhar, chital, mouse deer, four-horned antelope, wild dogs, wild boar, jackal, sloth bear, panther, malabar squirrel, porcupines and the black-knapped hare. Birds like jungle fowl and green pigeon are also found here. Bandipur National Park also has a good number of Tigers.

Gopalswamy Betta is one of the highest points in the Bandipur National Park and location of a 13th century fort. From Himada Gopalswamy Betta (1450 mts) experience breath-taking view of the park and mountains of Western Ghats.

Only the authorized vehicles (accompanied by driver-guard for each vehicle) are allowed for Jeep-safari. The bus can accommodate 20 people at a time for forest safari.

Bandipur National Park is located at a distance of 80 kms from Mysore and 220 kms from Bangalore and 70 kms from Ooty. Bandipur is well connected by road and you could get here either by the State Transport buses, private buses, all stop at the Forest Reception office. It takes 2 hours from Mysore by a taxi.
