Officially known as Pachmarhi Cantonment, Pachmarhi is a beautiful hill resort in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of 1067 ft, this hill station lies in the valley of the Satpura Range in Hoshangabad district. This saucer shaped hill stationis fondly known as the 'Queen of Satpura Ranges'.
Pachmarhi is also an archaeological treasure- house. In cave shelters in the Mahadeo Hills is an astonishing richness in rock paintings. Most of these have been placed in the period 500-800 AD, but the earliest paintings are an estimated 10,000 years old.
This small town is mostly under Indian Army's control and lies in Pachmarhi Cantonment.
