Bundi, 36 km from Kota, is one of the less explored small towns with a great historical welth. The state of Bundi was ruled by the Had Chauhans. Bundi is bounded by the Aravalli hills on the three sides and is restricted  by a  huge wall with four gateways. Attractions of the place are fascinating monuments including inspiring medieval forts, palaces, havelis, temples with beautiful stone idols and chattris with carved pillars. The town has a charming lake in the heart of the town. Bundi is known for its complicated carvings and murals.

MUST SEE IN BUNDI

Taragarh Fort:

This is the biggest fort built sometimes in the 16th Century which comes under the purview of the most famous ones in Rajasthan for its delicate structures. The painting archaived within the fort is considered as a classical artwork. Actually these are the examples of the Bundi style of mural painting.

Shikar Burj and Jait Sagar:

Shikar Burj Palace was used as hunting place of kings. Close to the palace is small Jait Sagar lake once famous for lotus flowers. Near Jait Sagar there is a small garden called Terrace garden.

Phool Sagar:

This small summer palace is still under the control of the royal family. The prior permission is required to obtain from the DM of the city to visit the palace.

FAIR & FESTIVAL IN BUNDI

Bundi Festivals are an integral part of the culture of the state of Rajasthan. There are many festivals and fairs that are hosted in the city almost throughout the year. One of the most popular festivals of Bundi is the Kajali Teej. It is celebrated in the month of August every year. 

The Gangaur Festival is another festival of Bundi that is celebrated with vigor and enthusiasm. The festival marks the conjugal life of Shiva and Parvati.

Two more festivals popular in Bundi are-  Bundi Festival, which is held in the month of November and the Ghas Bheru Festival that is celebrated in October-November.
