Jodhpur, the gateway to Thar Desert, is the 2nd largest City of Rajasthan, India. As the city is located at the edge of Thar, Jodhpur remains bright and hot throughout the year and perfectly called as the ‘Sun City’.

Jodhpur is a city of history founded by Rathore hero Rao Jodha in the year 1459. The Rathore kingdom was also known as the Marwar and was the largtest in Rajputna.

The city was constructed as the new capital of the state replacing the old capital Mandore. Latter Mandor is transformed as Mandore Gardens where ruins of the old capital still exist.

Jodhpur is also called as the Blue city as most houses in the old city are in the shades of blue in colour.

Jodhpur attracts a huze number of tourists for its forts and palaces, havelis, gardens, culture and tradition. 


Mehrangarh Fort:

It is the largest Fort in Rajasthan. The fort was found in 1458 as the spot of Rao Jodha’s capital, hence named Jodhpur. The city was developed surrounding the fort. Since 500 years the Mehrangarh fort was not taken over by power. The fort surmounts the top of 150 m peak with beautiful views all around.

Mehrangarh fort complex houses the Maharaja's palace, several temples and a well streched garden.

This eight days fair held every year during the month of Jan-Feb, is popularly known as the Cattle fair and is the second largest in Rajasthan. Nagaur Town is the most picturesque of Rajput townships.
