Mount Abu, the only hillstation of Rajastjan is located in the Aravali hills close to neighbouring state Gujrat. It is a 22km long and 9km wide rocky flat terrain.

During the reign of Maharajas Mount Abu was considered a place of relax and rest by the crown heads and its councils.

Mount Abu is the place of beautiful hillscape, picturesque lake and as well as ancient monuments and sculptors.

The Dilwara Jain Temples:

The Dilwara Jain temples are situated about two and a half km from the amid variety of wooded hills.These temples were built by Chalukyas are renowned for the eye-catching marble-wokr during the 11th and 13th centuries. There are five famous marble temples of Dilwara are a holy place of worship for the Jains.

So far as the sculptural delicacy is concern Dilwara temples are said as the best of the Jain pilgrims throughout the world. The orientation in carved celings spreading, doorways, pillars and panels is simply amazing.

Achalgarh Fort:

Achalgarh, situated around 11 kilometres from Mt. Abu, offers superb views of the surroundings. It houses the Achalgarh Fort, built in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha. FAIR & FESTIVAL IN MOUNT ABU

The Winter Festival is held every year during the last week of December. This three-day colourful festival is organised by the Rajasthan Tourism and Municipal Board of Mt. Abu.

The festival begins with a ceremonial procession, which starts from the RTDC Hotel Shikhar. The procession gathers at the Nakki Lake Chowk followed by folk performances of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana's folk artistes.

Display of dazzling fireworks takes place on this occassion.

The nearest airport is Udaipur.

RAIL

Mount Abu is located on the broad gauge line between Delhi and Mumbai via Ahmedabad. Direct trains run to various destinations including Ajmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

ROAD

Some buses go all the way to Mount Abu while others terminate at Abu road. Convenient bus services are from Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Baroda, Jaipur 510km, Jodhpur 260km, Mumbai, Udaipur 161 km.
