“Venice of the east” or “City of Lakes” these terms often uttered with love for Udaypur.

Jag Niwas, the Lake Palace, is situated in the middle of Pichola Lake which is the wonderful exhibition of architectural and cultural excellence. The grand city Palace on the banks of the lake and the Monsoon Palace (Sajjan Garh) on the hill above perpetuates the glamour of this excellent city. Udaipur is also the centre for performing arts, crafts and its famed miniature carvings. The Shilpgram festival is a great crowd-puller on New Year.

The founder of Udaipur was Maharan Udai Singh in the year 1559 AD. Udaipur is enveloped by Aravali Ranges, forests and lakes. After the death of Maharana Udai Singh (1572 AD)the throne was succeeded by Maharana Pratap who boldly protected Udaipur from the attack of Mughals. Maharana Pratap is the most respected Rajput symbol who bravely fought against the Mughals at the battle of Haldighati in 1576 AD.  Mewar continuously defied foreign invaders and has a history of blood spattered battles until the British involvement in the nineteenth century. At the end of British rule, the Kingdom of Udaipur merged with the union of India.

Udaipur attracts tourists for its history, art and culture.
