Aritar Lake (Lampokhari) is a relatively new tourist destination located, under Rongli sub division in East Sikkim. On a mountain top this idyllic spot is surrounded by dense forest. The region provides magnificent views of the Himalaya including Mount Kanchendzonga, Mount Makalu, Mount Pandim, Mount Sinoulchu, etc. Located on the historic Silk Route Aritar once was the entry point to for Tibet and Chinese.
Arital is still an offbeat tourist destination but interests are growing as it offers snow clad mountains, unspoiled lakes, forest areas, flower packed valleys, and botanically and zoologically rich surroundings. The region is an ideal place for leisure holiday, trekker, wildlife, ornithologist, adventure seekers, botanist, etc.
Nearby Arital there are few tourists’ spots like Zuluk, Jelep La Pass, Baba Dham, Nathang Valley, Baba Mandir, Kupup Lake, etc.
It is close to places like Pedong, Lava, Lolaygaon, Kalimpong of West Bengal and Gangtok, Rumtek, Jorethang and Namchi.
There are some wonderful trek routes but they are all two to five days trip.
