Kitam is a new tourist destination in South Sikkim. The sanctuary is sited between 1200 feet and 3200 feet with vegetation of shrubland and Sal-chir and pine forests. Kitam is the home of more than 200 species of birds and butterflies. Kitam Bird Sanctuary refuges birds like Rufous-necked Hornbill, Grey-crowned Prinia, Rufous-throated Wren-babbler, Yellow-vented Warbler, Wedge-billed Wren-babbler and many more. Migratory birds also found here from October every year. From Tarey Bhir watch tower view of Rangit basin is awesome.

MUST SEE IN KITAM BIRD SANCTUARY

Though the major attraction is viewing bird and natural beuty of lower Himalaya, visit nearby villages and find old Stupas and a Monastery. Take long nature walks along the wide banks of Rangit and rest your tired feet on its cold water.
