About Nathang Valley

There are only bits of paradise on Earth, and if you don’t like Nathang Valley, most probably you won’t like heaven either. Traditional Tibetan yak herders lived in this lush valley, which was situated at a height of 13,500 feet. A few streams run across the valley, and prayer flags flutter against the mountain walls on this vast plain of emptiness. Throughout the year, Nathang Valley changes colour. The grass becomes golden in the fall when it dries up; it is covered in flowers during the rainy season, and it is buried under 5 feet of snow during the winter. Here, one may find cold wind waves sweeping all around. around. This settlement is part of the Old Silk Road, which connected India and China. A Hindu temple and a tiny Buddhist monastery are located in the valley on the fringes of this remote mountain town. Summertime temperatures range from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius, while wintertime temperatures range from -5 to 2 degrees Celsius.
