About Kurseong, Latpanchar & Tinchuley:

The word Kurseong means – the place of White Orchid. This small town is located at an altitude of 1458 mts (4860ft) in the lap of hills of Eastern Himalaya.Kurseong enjoys milder and very healthy climate throughout the year. Kurseong is a quiet township on the Siliguri – Darjeeling highway. The place offers a commanding view of the undulating plains below.

Kurseong is 51 km from Siliguri and 30 km from Darjeeling.

The small village of Latpanchar is located at an altitude of 5000 ft on the hills of the Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary. This beautiful hamlet is wellknown for its fascinating 360 degree view. From the “Ahal” hill top, one can have a view of Kurseong, Tiger Hill, Sikkim, and Siliguri. You can also see the Tista River, Kalimpong hill area, Algara, Lava, Lolegaon, Bagora, Tinchule, Takdah and the plains of Dooars. It is also famous for the medicinal plants it produces, there is large plantation of cinchona around here. Snow capped peaks of Kanchenjunga range can also be seen from here.

The word Tinchuley stands for three chullas (chulla means oven), and this is represented by three prominent hill tops that resembels the three chullas. It provides stunning Himalayan views with the Majestic Kanchanjunga towering over the entire region. The places specialize in Village Tourism.
