On the shore of the Arabian Sea lies the famous Shivbhumi, Somnath remains crowded by the pilgrims all over the world.  This temple standing tall on the shore of the Arabian Sea looks pretty magnificent. The temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva. It’s a 10th century temple. The main temple was much wealthier and was enriched with jewelleries. The sultan of Gajni, Mahmood, and Alauddin Khilji has robbed this temple many times. Their attacks ruined the temple. The current temple is nabonirmito. The sign of destruction of the old temple is still visible in the temple corridor.  The art and sculpture of this temple is charming. The temple is divided into three parts- Naat Mandir, Bhog Mandir and Garvo Mandir. Just beside the temple the waves of the Arabian Sea is playing with the rocks which is also a pleasant view. In the year 1950 the temple was rebuilt due to the inspiration of Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel, whose statue has been established in front of the entrance of the temple. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple. That’s why tourists will have to submit their mobiles and cameras outside the temple. Tourists must watch the light & sound show of the temple in the evening. Just outside the exit way of the temple lays the first Somnath Temple made by Indore’s queen Ahallabai. There are also other tourist spots surrounding the temple among which the meeting place of the rivers Kapila, Hiranya and Saraswati, Probhashtirtha, is worth mentioning. Tourists may also visit the Gita Mandir, Surya Mandir and Shankaracharya Mandir. One can also look around the sea shore, 35kms away from Chorbad.
