Covering 45 sq kms dense forest Chilapata is a picturesque natural resort close to Jaldapara National Park in Dooars. This savannah forest covered with tall elephant grasses refuges one-horned Rhinos, Royal Bengal Tigers, wild Elephants, Deer, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Spotted Deer and Hog Deer, wild Pig, Gour and a number of Birds, Peafowls. I t is also the home of rare species of butterfly.
An important attraction at Chilapata is the "Nalraja Garh". There exist the ruins of an old fort in the dense forests at Chilapata on the east bank of the Torsa river a few miles south of the Indo-Bhutan border.
