Best Time To Visit Dooars and Why You Should Go!

Nestled in West Bengal near the Himalayas, Dooars is known for lush green forests, rolling tea gardens, and its many national parks. It makes for an awesome place to see nature at its best! But with changes across seasons, when should you visit to have the most fun? Let me tell you…

Spring (March-May)

Spring in Dooars is magical! The flowers are blooming – watch out for pretty orchids and rhododendrons. You can see many birds flying in and out, like the famous Great Indian Hornbill. Mornings and evenings are pleasant, between 10 °C to 25°C. Take easy jungle walks, see tea plucking, and enjoy the sunrise amidst misty hills. Just watch out for some rain showers!

Monsoon (June – September)

The rainy season makes Dooars greener. Walking in the rain-washed forests and tea gardens is so calm and rejuvenating! Click pretty pictures of colourful butterflies, blooming flowers and local harvest scenes. Be ready for leech bites though! Also, watch for muddy trails and occasional floods. Don’t take risks when outdoors.

Post-Monsoon (October – November)

My favourite time! Cool and sunny weather, blue skies and white clouds. Take cycle rides to breathe in the freshness! Enjoy festivals like Kali Puja and Diwali with the friendly locals. The tea gardens now give the famous second flush Darjeeling tea. Sip some as you soak in picturesque views of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga.

Winter (December – February)

Dooars winters are cold but beautiful! See frost-covered mountain tops. Warm yourself by bonfires at night as you chat with new friends! Wake up early for jeep safaris to spot deer, rhinos and even Royal Bengal tigers! Try delicious local oranges, go fishing for Golden Mahseer, and click soul-stirring landscape photos. Just carry some woollens as nights get very chilly!

How many days to go?

I suggest 4-5 days if possible. Stay in towns like Siliguri, Malbazar or Birpara for ease of travel. Make a loose plan so you can pick what to do depending on the weather. This way, you get the most out of stunning Dooars across all seasons. So, book your Dooars package today.
