The Property
Shri Bhanu Rai and his family own the Bungkulung Retreat Eco Huts. The family is friendly and well-behaved. The land is steadfastly kept plastic-free, and any available plastic bottles have been transformed into sapling pots.
The property contains three well-furnished cottages, two of which have two bedrooms and are ideal for small families, while the third has four beds and may accommodate a bigger group.
This hut’s open courtyard is lush with flowers and trees. You can only spend your time in the garden.
The food was incredibly fresh and excellent. The Eco Huts provides vehicular service according to your needs.
Places to visit:
Bungkulung is a stand-alone destination. The greatest thing to do here is to relax and listen to the sounds of nature. You can also go for a walk around the village and learn about Bungkulung’s eco-tourism. You can learn about tea processing at the tea factory if you are interested in Tea Tourism. Bungkulung is a bird watcher’s and photographer’s dream, offering opportunities to see a wide variety of Himalayan birds. A short stroll to the adjacent Balaton River is also an option. You can also rent a cab to drive you to Gyaman Bridge, Mirik, or even Dudhia for a brief tour. Because Bungkulung Jungle Camp is located in the middle of the jungle, you can go for a short hike and explore the area.
In Murmah and Gayabari, you can explore the local tea factory and tea gardens. You can also go to Mirik, which is only 15 kilometers away, and have a boat trip on the famed Mirik Lake. Day visits to Mirik’s Bokar Monastery and Rangbang’s orange groves are both possible.
How to reach Bunkulung:
Bunkulung is located on the Siliguri-Mirik route, 48 kilometres from Siliguri. Tourists can hire a car in New Jalpaiguri and travel to Bungkulung. The Siliguri-Mirik route takes about 2 hours to go to Bungkulung from Siliguri You can also rent a car in Mirik and then change for a car in Bungkulung.

Our desire to visit unusual weekend getaways leads us to areas that are both unusual and beautiful. We’ve always believed that West Bengal has a plethora of beautiful places to visit that have yet to be discovered. These places are simply too beautiful to be expressed in words. Bunkulung, near Mirik, is one such location. It’s a small community with beautiful surroundings and a sense of calm that we don’t often find in our daily lives. And the location is as mysterious and exotic as its name suggests.
Bunkulung is a picture-perfect village with utter calmness and serenity, around 15 kilometres from Mirik via Soureni bazaar.The village is surrounded by hills, with small streams running through it. Bunkulung, nestled in the lap of nature and just 48 kilometres from Siliguri, is gaining appeal for its all year round nice and peaceful weather, natural beauty, and, of course, tea plantations. Bunkulung, a remote and undiscovered location, is Mirik’s agricultural centre. Bunkulung is crisscrossed by two rivers: the Balasun and the little Murmah Khola. Located on the outskirts of the valley, surrounded by hills in every direction. The area is filled with farmland, fishing, and vast stretches of countryside that will captivate you.
Bungkulung has a one-of-a-kind and interesting beauty that has been gifted by nature. In Bunkulung, visitors should take a nature stroll through the surrounding greenery, have a dip in the cold rushing water of the Balasun river, or simply spend time admiring the beauty of light and shadow cast over the tall trees of the jungle with the majestic Himalayas in the background.
