Best of Northeast Itinerary: 13 Days/12 Nights

Day 01: Arrive in Guwahati
Pickup from Guwahati airport/railway station and transfer to hotel.
Post lunch visit- Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati Zoo, State Museum & Emporiums for local ethnic products. Take a river cruise in the evening (cruise at additional charges).
Overnight in Guwahati.

Day 02: Guwahati to Bhalukpong (245 km)
After breakfast drive to Bhalukpong, the sylvan paradise in Arunachal Pradesh. Check into a hotel.
Overnight in Bhalukpong.

Day 03: Bhalukpong to Dirang (137 km)
Early morning walk around this small town and enjoy the natural beauty of the place. After breakfast drive to Dirang, enroute visit Sessa Orchid Sanctuary. You can also visit the snow-fed Kameng River that flows alongside. Continue your journey to picturesque Monpa Valley Dirang (8600ft).
Upon arrival at Dirang, check into the hotel. In the afternoon visit the hot water spring, regional sheep farm, Sangti and Yak Research Center.

Day 04: Dirang to Tawang (145 km)
After an early breakfast leave for one of the most popular tourist destinations, Tawang. Travel through the beautiful valley of Dirang to reach Sela Pass (13703 ft). En-route bubbling river and colorful tribes will greet you. On reaching Sela, spend some time around the paradise lake. Later, continue the drive to Tawang. Upon arrival, check into a hotel. In the evening you can visit the Craft Center and traditional Monpa Village.
Overnight in Tawang.

Day 05: Tawang sightseeing
Have a full day excursion around Tawang. Visit the famous Tawang Monastery, which was founded by Mera Lama Lodre Gyaltso. He was a contemporary of the fifth Dalai Lama and founded the Monastery during the 17th century A.D. At present it accommodates over 500 monks and houses priceless Buddhist texts and scriptures.
Later, go on a short trek to Bramdungchung Ani Gomap, which is the abode of nuns and the oldest Ani Gompa in Tawang. The Gompa is situated in the lap of a far off mountain laced with natural scenery and comes under the administration of Tawang Monastery.
Visit Urgelling Monastery & Monpa Village.
Overnight in Tawang.

Day 06: Tawang sightseeing
Set out early for an excursion to Zemithang- visit the sky looming stupa which was constructed by Lama Prathar of Kharman village in 13th century AD.
Visit Madhuri lake if the road remains open.
Overnight in Tawang.

Day 07: Tawang to Bomdila (180 km)
Post breakfast drive back to Bomdila. Enroute visit 1962 Indo-China War Memorial, which is dedicated to Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, of the 4th Battalion of Garhwal Rifles Infantry Regiment. He showed his heroism by fighting and holding the attack of China back for 72 hours all alone. Singh remained at his post at an altitude of about 10,000 feet before succumbing to an enemy bullet during that bloody winter war. The memorial is located 25 km before Tawang and is surrounded by scenic terrain just below the Sela Pass.
After visiting the war memorial, we will continue our drive to Bomdila. En-route enjoy the beauty of snow-clad peaks namely Kangto (7090 mt), Nyegi Kangsang (7050 mt), Gorichen (6488 mt).
Also visit beautiful Nuranang waterfalls.
Upon arrival at Bomdila, check into the hotel.
Visit Bomdila Monastery, which was constructed by Tsona Gontse Rinpoche, the 12th reincarnate. The monastery is one of the most famous attractions of Bomdila and was inaugurated in 1965. Bomdila monastery is an abode to Buddhist Monks and Lamas. It is believed that the monastery here in Bomdila is an exact replica of Tsona Gontse Monastery.

Day 08: Bomdila to Kaziranga (205 km)
After breakfast travel to Kaziranga National Park.
Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 09: Kaziranga safari
Early morning take elephant safari. Visit nearby tea & coffee gardens.
Do forest jeep safari in the afternoon.
Overnight in Kaziranga.

Day 10: Kaziranga to Shillong (253 km)
After breakfast travel to Shillong. En route visit Umiam Lake;
Overnight in Shillong.

Day 11: Shillong sight seeing
After breakfast drive to Cherrapunji (60 km). The beautiful waterfall Noh-ka-likai is at Cherrapunji. Explore some of the caves in and around Cherrapunjee, Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Return to Shillong, en-route visit Elephanta falls and Shillong peak for some breathtaking views.
Overnight in Shillong.

Day 12: Shillong to Guwahati (99km)
Check in to hotel in Guwahati. Afternoon roam around the city. Take evening cruze.
Overnight in Guwahati.

Day 13: Return journey
Early morning visit Kamakhya Temple and return to hotel.
Drop at Guwahati rly stn/airport for return journey.
