Gurudongmar-Yungtham Tour Itinerary: 5 Days/4 Nights
Day 01: NJP rly station/Bagdogra airport/Siliguri to Gangtok
Pick up and drive to Gangtok. After lunch roams around M G Marg.
Overnight in Gangtok.
Day 02: Gangtok yo Lachen
Post breakfast drive to Lachen, en route, see Seven Sister Waterfall and Singhik View Point.
Reach Lachen by afternoon.
Overnight stay in Lachen.
Day 03: Lachen–Gurudongmar Lake–Lachung
Start your day with breakfast and drive towards Gurudongmar Lake considered to be a most sacred lake in North Sikkim. The lake is situated at the highest altitude in North Sikkim. After paying a visit to the lake come back to the hotel, take refreshments and leave for Lachung.
Overnight stay in Lachung hotel.
Please note that only Indian Nationals can visit this lake, so if you are accompanied by any foreigner friend you need to intimate us in advance.
Day 04: Lachung-Yumthang Valley–Gangtok
After taking breakfast at the hotel proceed for an excursion to Yumthang valley– the valley of flowers of East. Return to hotel en route visit hot spring– the crystal water in it said to have some medicinal trait.
Reach the hotel and check out and proceed to Gangtok.
Overnight in Gangtok.
Day 05: Drop to Destination
Gangtok to NJP Rly station/Bagdogra airport/Siliguri Bus stand- En route you may visit Roomtek monastery.
Some Interesting Facts about North Sikkim
North Sikkim is a district of the Indian state of Sikkim. Its district headquarters is Mangan nestled at 2,000 feet elevation. The landscape is mountainous with dense vegetation all the way up to the alpine altitude before thinning out to desert scrub towards the northern tundra. Numerous waterfalls astride the main road make the trip to this district extremely picturesque. Most of the people of the district reside near Mangan. Further north the elevation increases with the vegetation turning from temperate to alpine to tundra. Temperatures range from about 25° to below −40° in the extreme high reaches where the altitude is in excess of 6,000 meters. Kanchenjunga is the highest peak at over 8,000 m, straddling its western border with Nepal and can be seen clearly from the town of Singhik.
North Sikkim is One of the most uninhabited areas of the country, yet extremely beautiful and charming. The district is famous for the Gurudongmar Lake which is one of the highest lakes of India. It also has religious importance. Apart from lakes, there are some important monasteries in this area too.
